Yesterday I posted a mini-incident that happened to me and threw out a lil digital homage to the artist of a web comic that I’ve read for a long, long while now. One that I’ve so enjoyed that I’ve passed it on to other manga fans, to help support it. I’ve bought stuff from their merchandising site – obviously – because I know that that’s the best way to keep the project going. My jaw dropped when I saw some of his work used by Waldenbooks a while back, not only because it supported his work but because it also was showcased as the poster child for manga at the store; meant all this stuff was going mainstream! When the hardcopy of MegaTokyo Volume 4 hits the shelves this year, I’ll buy a copy even though I’ve already read everything that’s in there, for free.
Yes, I’m a fan.
So after posting my episode on my little corner of the digital world here, I said “huh… lemme go throw this up at the forums to share the story.” I had to have my password reset there; I haven’t posted but two other times before, most recently in Jan, and I posted a blurb and a URL…
That’s when the drama started.

I brought my Jetta in for servicetoday… should be the last trip before I my lease ends and I turn it in, so that was all whoo hoo and stuffs. I also realized that I’m going to have to renew my registrations, even if I haven’t gotten a reminder yet… meh. Anyway, I dropped the GLI off with instructions for “just an oil change” – whenever this dealership touches something else for service (i.e. the tires) I end up making three to five follow up visits – and decided to wait for it over at Tully’s. After an hour I walked back in, past a customer at the counter, and went to the cashier to pick up my keys. She looked up at me, and then my t-shirt and say “Whoa.”
I had to look down because, frankly? I forgot what I was wearing…

Fredart [of megatokyo]: Thanks, Apple. Your ‘policies’ here really make me wanna stay a loyal Apple fan. I’m not even going to go into my now dead iPod (i refuse to even try to get that repaired) We all know iPods are a disposable commodity. Is that where we are going with Laptops too? With our data?
Fred vs AppleCare, or “what happens when your Powerbook dies”… I only lived through one small episode of this, but I can empathize. Although, I can’t tell who won this round because it sounds like both of them lost something…
Confession: a new [to me] manga series sucked me in over the past seven couple of weeks and has eaten up a bunch of lunch hours… Usually, when I bump into a new manga collection that can keep my interest, it involves a massive spending spree on imported/translated books through multiple Borders visits, and I read’m during nighttime hours… This new series – MegaTokyo – is released via the web, so it’s free, much like RedVsBlue is [another one of my favorites, altho that’s more cartoon than anime/manga], but it requires a computer to read’m online… 685 episodes later and not only am I up to date with the story, but I’m hooked.
