CNN: Stacy Martin needed a bird’s eye view to see her boyfriend’s marriage proposal. Brian Rueckl’s proposal came as a 40,000-square-foot message, “Stacy will you marry me?” tilled in a cornfield near the Manitowoc and Kewaunee county line.
And I thought the “at the stadium” proposals were over the top.

NYTimes: As the congregation of the World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church looked on and its pastor, Apostle Alton R. Williams, presided, a brown shroud much like a burqa was pulled away to reveal a giant statue of the Lady, but with the Ten Commandments under one arm and “Jehovah” inscribed on her crown.
And in place of a torch, she held aloft a large gold cross, as if to ward off the pawnshops, the car dealerships and the discount furniture outlets at the busy corner of Kirby Parkway and Winchester that is her home. A single tear graced her cheek.
Talk about not pleasing anyone – this is 72 foot tall lightening rod in a nor’easter.
MSNBC: EU: Microsoft’s Vista may break antitrust rules […] He highlighted Vista’s integrated Internet search, digital rights management used to protect copyrights and software that would create fixed-document formats comparable to Adobe’s pdf.
If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: where is the fucking public outcry for oppression caused by Apple’s OSX? OSX that ships with its own media player, IM client, search engine, DRM system, and spits out PDF’s? OSX that has been “guilty” – quotes because there’s no guilt here – of these issues for over three years now? Why is it OK for OSX which has been in the mix for years and not for Vista which hasn’t even been released yet?
Where? Where’s the outcry for it? Where is it? Tell me that.
Tell me.
Now.
Call me annoyed.
I’ve got a 18″ LCD at home and have had it for a while. For such a long while, it only supports VGA – as in no DVI – but it’s OK: I don’t spend much time on my home PC: remote desktop has helped me stay on the couch, while checking email. At work, I have a 17″ Sony LCD. It’s got a thin bezel and a DVI cable, so it’s pretty clear. Rather sharp, in all honesty. Also has an adjustable neck which is key.
17″ is small. Very small, given the amount of stuff I have on a screen at any given time. It’s the nature of development: compiler, bug window, email are all running at once. Bigger screen LCD’s have been on a market for forever and a day… so I asked for a new monitor at work.
The end result? I’m now so very, very close to buying my own monitor at work that it’s really pissed me off.
