Furrygoat: Q: What do you get when you cross a browser application with the ability to go offline? A: A client application without any the goodness that the platform (be it Windows or OS X) has to offer.
What’s wrong with this post? Absolutely nothing. I agree with Steve completely on this matter. When you’re right, you’re right. Hasn’t happened since Heretic was released and we both recognized it as the best LAN-based game of its day.
Oh yeah… it’s completely frozen over.
Furrygoat: After 1888 posts, this experiment is pretty much over. I’m sure at some point, something will be back up here in it’s place, but it almost certainly won’t be a blog. Thanks for tagging along on the ride though.
And there goes Steve, riding off into t3h sunset… a sign of things to come? Is blogging so mainstream now that it’s become passé for the pioneers of blogging? I doubt it.
I’ve often said that chat rooms people never leave – they simply fade out of sight for a while only to return at some point. It’s a Randy Axiom, actually. It’s been proven world wide over the last 20 years… the question now is does this apply to bloggers? What controversial topic will bring Steve out of the void? Time will tell.
Dear God – I just realized it: I’ve been online for over 20 years now… *sob*
FurryGoat: Now that it’s been revealed in the PDC Keynote, I can finally start to talk about one of the projects that our team has been working on. Yes, it’s the infamous Windows Sidebar.
Innovcation, Escalation, Competition… call it what you want, but as of right now, it’s “on”.
Did y’all see the video? This is going to kick ass.
Hell, maybe I’ll even bring back QTB as a Gadget. *smirk*
Furrygoat: This, of course, usually has the unfortunate side effect of landing me in some hot water with the family when it comes to proper etiquette. Such was the case with this year’s holiday card. … Well, let me just say that the family didn’t quite understand or appreciate my good sense of humor. My parents (as were other relatives apparently) weren’t as pleased with it as I was.
Nice to know that I’m not the only one quagmired in holiday chaos this year!
Steve offers a commentary of being an SDE/T at Microsoft (and makes some points that I myself have made recently)…
Congratulations to Papa Steve and Mum Liz and Tyler Jacob! Both parents and bambino neonato are doing well, although rather tired after their delivery experience… anyone else see a software development parallel? Seeing it myself, it might be an indication that I may need more down time in my life. And Tyler, you best not be reading this here site for at least another 17 years from now… well at maybe if you had permission from both your parents and we both know they’re too smart to give it to you, so seeya in a couple of decades. [too many Randy-isms can be very dangerous to the young, after all]
