A couple of goodies this time out, as this will help to keep Pocket SharpMT up to par with SharpMT. Remember that the .NET Compact Framework must be installed on your Pocket PC before using Pocket SharpMT. If you have a Windows Mobile 2003 device you’re all set; if you have a Pocket PC 2002 device, you’ll need to install the Compact Framework before trying Pocket SharpMT.
All sorts of goodies; all of them from user feedback (although I did put a spin on a couple of things here and there) so it should please a few people. There is one huge upgrade to the install process – huge in possible impact – because it now checks to see if version 1.1 of the .NET Framework is installed before letting SharpMT install itself. Please let me know if this causes a problem, i.e. if it tells you the Framework is missing even though you know it is installed. Continue reading SharpMT – 2.1 Beta 1→
I just upgraded to version 2.65 of MovableType and this is a test of SharpMT’s compatibility with it. Given the Change Log of this release of MT – and the fact that nothing in the XML-RPC layer has changed – I expect SharpMT to continue to work with MT without any code changes. This an update to SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT 2.01 and 2.0. The 2.02 release makes a couple of minor fixes to the Upload Media dialog to both platforms and to the Edit-from-Server functionality for the desktop version – if you use either of these features you’ll want to get this update. The 2.02 version, which includes the fixes included in 2.01, can be installed over an existing 2.01 or 2.0 installation without any known issues.
This a minor – but highly recommended – update to SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT 2.0. The 2.01 release makes a couple of minor fixes to the MT-RPC communication layer that should improve MT communication and a couple of UI modifications to the desktop version. The 2.01 version can be installed over an existing 2.0 copy without any known issues – all existing settings should be OK. I’m also hoping it fixes compatibility issues with dasBlog.
This marks the “official” 2.0 release of SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT. It’s been quite a long while since I’ve found any bugs in it and even longer that anyone else has. If this is your first look at SharpMT (or your first look at 2.0) take a look at the following information:
Last call for bugs on both SharpMT and Pocket SharpMT for the 2.0 release! I haven’t gotten any new reports about broken stuff for about a week, so it must be doing pretty well out there. However, I hate making assumptions about such things, which is why I do stuff like this *points to the headline* in the first place. If anyone finds anything please let me know ASAP – I plan to kick this out the door either this Friday or the following Monday. And thanks for the ongoing support! Speaking of support, the SpellCheck Fund is now 30% full, so it might be a long while before I get to include it for everyone but I’m still hopeful!
Thanks to Eric at http://www.fullofnothing.org/ SharpMT (and Pocket SharpMT) now have a “created by” web button for your Blog! To add a to your Blog, add the following HTML code to your page:
<a href=”https://www.randyrants.com/sharpmt”><img src=”https://www.randyrants.com/images/sharpmt.gif” border=”0″ alt=”Created with SharpMT”></a>
Or take a copy of the GIF file – there’s also a .png file there too! – for your Blog server; that’s cool too! Thanks again Eric!
Beta 2? Got skipped to stay in line with SharpMT (as always.) Some bug fixes for this release. Categories now sort alphabetically when they are refreshed from the server and posted drafts automatically save the setting of the post flag. New release if only to keep the Pocket version in sync with the desktop version (and to put a good few shots of coffee to good use) – Pocket #MT 2.0 Beta 1 uses the same file format that #MT 2.0 Beta 1 utilizes. In fact, I’m typing this entry on my desktop but I’ll post it to the server from my Pocket PC, as a last minute test. The older version of Pocket #MT should co-exist with this version, so feel free to give the beta a whirl. The preview description has got the most up to date information on this new release – the FAQ has been updated as well. Also, this should not prevent SharpMT 1.x from running, provided that you install it to a separate directory (which the installer does by default) and I’m pretty confident that the ugliest of issues are gone from this beta. Please contact me with any problems that you uncover! A lot of times people download it and have a problem with it but never tell me – SharpMT can’t get better if I don’t know that it has crashed!
Lastly Pocket SharpMT 2.0 has not started development
yet, but it will begin once the desktop version is up and running.
I’m ready for a “sneak-preview” of SharpMT 2 – I do find a good deal of bugs just by writing up some Blog entries… all the more reason for a new entry. Actually, I won’t tell you how many times I had to recompile just to get this Entry out – just part of the process. I’ll include some screen shots at the bottom of the post but since a lot of the changes aren’t that visual, I think a pre-release feature list is in order.
