CNN: NYC eyes ban on restaurant trans fats

Wow. Does that sound insane to anyone else? Is it just me? Has insanity taken over the city over there? What’s next? A law that keeps Exotic Dancers four feet away from the customers???

Oh, wait – that law is already on the books in Seattle. I guess if a “liberal” city like Seattle can be that asinine, New York City can compete for the title as well.

Yay!

  1. remember. trans fats kill more people each year than the terorists do. why don’t you get pissed when you here our phone lines are being monitered for terorists. you should be for this law with your aditude. me, I am against it. I am all for freedom.

  2. You’re missing the point: banning trans fats from food in a city is just as silly as having a four foot air-moat around dancers. Or like a city trying to maintain a ban on opening new strip clubs. Seattle thinks of itself as a liberal city, yet they have a choke collar on certain things that make you go “Hmmm.”

On to what you’ve said in what looks like broken English, guns kill more people than trans fat. And cars more than guns. Yet both are still allowed. Further, all for freedom. Idealistic and impractical attitude. How far do you go to save the mass populous from themselves? If you’re all for freedom, doesn’t a child have the freedom to run with a knife? Doesn’t it make sense to try to protect them? Obviously someone sees the fat thing in NYC like that – it’s just ridiculous to even propose it.

But beyond that, I’ll ask the obvious: what the hell are you talking about about terrorists and phone taps for, when I’m talking about trans fat and strippers? Am I supposed to be outraged that my phone *may* tapped? Gotta love the press for that one. They make it sound like ever 3rd phone in the US is tapped… like the govt has nothing better to do than sift through a trillion calls a minute. Whoo! The reports never stop to think that there may have been a tip or standing suspicion. It’s like saying that we shouldn’t have investigated Bin Laden before he killed a US Citizen first, even if we KNEW he had declared war on us. Oooo! We better not act on a tip because tapping a phone is wrong! Ooooo! FWIW, I’ve got nothing to hide and since I don’t even *have* a [land based] phone, it doesn’t impact me. ALL of my calls are cellular which makes all of my calls insecure and open for listening. It’s not our usual “we will let 1000 guilty men go free just so we don’t accidentally send 1 honest man to prison” but still. And in another 2 years it’ll be reversed. Or not.
