Forgot to mention this a couple of weeks ago… I’ve put down the Gillette Fusion Power and returned to the Mach3 Power thingy.
It’s the first time I’ve walked away from a new Gillette product in years. Several years. I switched to their original Sensor model and kept pace with their advances over the last ten years (or so) but, well… the Fusion just doesn’t impress me and how it deals with my facial hair. I think if I could change blades more often it would be doing better for me but the truth is that it hasn’t been giving me that close of a shave – I think my hair is too think for the smaller Fusion blades to handle.
And with the price of blades as high as they are, I simply can’t change the blades more often than once a month. The Mach3 blades last a little longer than the Fusion blades do, so it was an easy enough decision, once I could mentally accept it… sucks for Gillette, but I can’t help that this go around. Maybe v2 will be improved on. On a similar note, has anyone else noticed the increase of mens products in the shaving aisle?

Yeah it seems that Gillette has gone the way of Intel. Instead of making a better product just make it bigger. I started using the Fusion a couple of months ago, and I think I’m going back to the Mach 3. Gillette just slapped more blades on it and called it a day. It really doesn’t work very well. At least Intel finally realized that more clock speed does not a good processor make. Hopefully Gillette gets it before we see a 10 bladed razor that does nothing but spread shaving cream on your face.
Actually, if history shows anything, Schick is the one to watch for: they jumped to 3 blades when the Sensor/Sensor Excell has 2. They jumped to 4 when the 3 bladed Mach3 first came out. In all honesty, I expected Gillette to go to 4 and Schick to 5 this go around, but I guess Gillette thought they had something with their smaller but more numerous blades… I just don’t think it works well with the density of my beard. At least not for the amount of times I expect to use the heads: if I could use a fresh blade every 5-6 uses it would Pwn :D
The fusion has 5 blades and one on the back. Schick has crappy razors. They seem to over do it for me. I damn near need a blood transfusion after trying to use their 4 bladed POS. Might as well try to shave with a weed whacker.
I can’t believe Gillette put out the Fusion at the super high price. It’s insane. Why have the prices for blades increased so high. I am trying a Wet/Dry electric razor and so far so good. You can use shaving cream, which makes it a lot smoother, but not as close as the blade.
