I was tooling around the TypePad control panel the other day and was sorta irked that I can’t get stats on the RSS pages… not that my stats matter much: I just put stuff out there and tend to forget people might read it. One of the things that I did notice was an increase of traffic caused by a review of SharpKeys on an Italian website. At least it increased traffic on the home page. And then I started thinking about it: why was I only seeing hits on the main page and the archive pages? What about individual posts?
Seems that my Individual Posts template lost its entry for the JavaScript stats include, so I added it back, and well, holy crap!
Where the hell did all of you people come from?! And what’s more, how in the hell did I get into the top ten for so many searches on the search engines? I mean I always expect an increase of new comments on the iTunes/iPod posts after a major holiday, but I had no idea how highly ranked I was. Search for “iTunes Windows Millenium Edition” on MSN I’m first – on Google I’m second.
Wow. Just wow. And the hit count now that I’m tracking all page views? More people than I ever thought likely even without data for RSS readers… jeez. I thought only porn sites got this much traffic.
Hey, maybe I should add ads… would make up for the subscription fee to TypePad! *smirk*
And here I thought I was one of a select few. Well, I’ll just be sure to tell everyone that I knew you before you were popular. :)
I still think ya are in the select few :) All of the other pages hits seem to be for iPod tech support :D
