Connecticut Post: Arun Gupta, age 53 of Easton, beloved husband of Nutan and loving father of Kunal, Nisha and Akash died on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, from injuries sustained from a bicycle accident. His accomplishments include founding Dataease in Trumbull, Neuvis in Shelton, and touching the hearts of everyone he met.
They ain’t lying.
The first job I ever got (and lost later that same day, due to a budget cutback and position elimination) was with DataEase. A number of months later and I got picked up by a spin off of DataEase, that eventually became a division of Symantec, which was my first “real” technology job. While I was there, I remember a number of design meetings that included a blurb of “because Arun said so”. At first this seemed comical to me, but as weeks of work become months and then years, it became apparent that “because Arun said so” was not only a valid reason for a design change, but it was also the best reason to do something: the guy was a long sighted visionary and usually had his thumb on the pulse of technology to come. His later company, NeuVis, became a part of Rational in 2002, adding to his ongoing contributions to the tech world.
The technology field has lost a visionary figure in a wonder guy, and he will be missed.
Arun has touched the hearts of all he met. He will be missed.
