Mark this one in your record books, folks: I’ve gotten two emails, from family and friends today (and yesterday for that matter), for every one piece of Spam that I’ve received. Of course, I have a Spam filter through Outlook and my ISP has a Spam filter on their server, so any junk mail that does make it to the Inbox is pretty slick, but still, this is bizarre. I haven’t had more personal email than junk mail for well over five years. You’d think there was some change coming in my life or something…
Just thought I’d share the joy of non-Spam email indused glow!
You know, long long ago in a time when BBS’ing was THE thing, I would rarely receive email. When I did, boy howdy it was an event. Then we moved into the mid-to-late-nineties and suddenly all of my email was impersonal crap.
It’s good to see that, finally, the corporate market has awakened and realized that spam IS a problem. Albeit not because of the reason most people see it, as an inconvenience and a pest, but as a loss in capital. So here, after 6 years of companies working on anti-spam technologies, we’re finally able to make a substantial dent.
Thank circuits, I was about to go friggin’ nuts.
You might want to look into SpamNet (www.spamnet.com) — even with company filters and Outlook filters – I still get some spam through the door. I use SpamNet and it is not totally eliminated, but so much of the Spam is removed that I can actually enjoy reading e-mails again.
