A Mermaid Wearing Pinstripes?

So there I was, walking under the Major Deegan towards a crosswalk in the Bronx. Was a pretty cool day out and mostly cloudy. Not the best day for baseball, but still not the worse I had seen. The drive down wasn’t too bad and the parking was just fine. This was only the second game that my sister and I had been too, so I was looking forward to it, especially after the week I had – an analog distraction was more than welcome! After dodging the regular collection of scalpers and their typical “Got extra tickets?” and “Need tickets?” banter, I encountered what was a personal first for me…

As we were approaching the stairs to cross over the subway tracks I heard, “Want a free doubleshotTM?” I looked around, wondering who said that and Lo! there is a twenty-something looking girlie that’s handing me a cold can of Starbucks doubleshot. I must have had the “What the hell are you talking about?” look on my face because she followed up the proffered can with a “Compliments of Starbucks – want one?” I nicked two and floated up the stairs. My sister didn’t even get into hers, but that was an honest mistake! I said asked her if she wanted one and she told me “no”. Later on in the game she told me that she meant “No, not right now” which to me is total bunk. I’m sorry, but you cannot expect me to hold a chilled cup of coffee and not drink it, especially when ya tell me “no” when I offered it to you. Besides, we would have never gotten into the stadium with it – it had to be drunk outside the place! Her loss! It was mine, ya understand? Mine Mine Mine! Go Go Go! Mine Mine!

It was a bit annoying having those silly little floating red cartoon hearts following me into the stadium, but I couldn’t care less. Had Bean and Game in the same hour… that is what harmony is all about!
