Mocha Malted Frappuccino! Had my first one day at local Starbucks and well, I can’t say it was anything earth shattering. I mean, it was good and all, but so is a regular Mocha Frap. Certainly wasn’t as “new” as the Mocha Coconut that was introduced last summer – or the CocaMochanut as I end up ordering it, first thing in the morning.
Actually, I saw this yesterday, but because I spent most of the day working on SharpMT, I didn’t think to post it, but since I was just working on SharpMT’s Post feature, I thought I’d pop in a new Rant as a means of testing. OK, fine, so I’m obsessing with this “side project” but people that know me – or worse, that work with me – know that I hate leaving things unfinished. Hate it. In fact, that’s what drove the manuscript going; once I start on a project, I want it finished by the end of the day. If it’s a multi-day project, then I’m bothered until it’s done. The manuscript was multi-month and it drove me insane – the fact that it’s still hasn’t been sent to the publisher is eating away at my mind, but I’m working on it with some proofreaders. This SharpMT project has only been going on for about a week now, so I’m hoping to wind it up.
For people that are interested, what’s planned for this 1.0 release?
- Saving local drafts, for offline writing
- Syncing information about existing posts, to allow inter-post linking
- Syncing categories from server
- Full support of [almost] all MovableType fields
(what I use is supported – I think that’s “all”)
- Support for Bold/Italics/Underline tags (not WYSIWYG, but I didn’t want that!)
- Spell checking is still being considered (depending on cost)
Spell checking is my biggest concern right now. I could only offer spell checking to people that have Word installed already, using their spell checker. I found a free module out there that worked for VB 6.0, but not for C#.NET, so that’s out. I also found a number of commercial spell checkers; I’m using a couple in evaluation mode, but I’m hesitant to buy a module, if I’m treating this as Donation-Ware, which is what I planned to do. If anyone has some thoughts on that, please leave me a comment – I’m open to suggestions.
*gulp* – now I’ve got to hit post and deal with another round of bug fixes!
I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Being at work, all the net connections are logged. I have things in my head to post all day long, but I don’t want multiple connections to my site showing up in the logs.
I’ve been using wBloggar, but it doesn’t have the ability to save consecutive posts locally and upload them all at once.
I am looking forward to trying this out this week.
