Bad Karma Day

I should have stayed home today. From what I’ve seen so far, there’s no reason for me to have gone out in the first place – I should have just blown off work and worked on SharpMT all day, but since that was giving me ImageList related grief – am I the only one that realizes that I can’t add images to the ToolBar’s image list via the IDE? – I figured that I would have a better day if I went out for a while. I figured wrong. It’s just been a bad karma day and it’s not even 8:30 in the morning yet.

I thought the day was going to just be “hit the little red Jeep” day, but it’s grown worse. First off: raw day. I don’t mind the rain so much as I mind the cold, because after all, it’s fuckin April and it should not be this cold. But alright – fine. The weather in an uncontrollable thing, unless you live in San Diego, so I can get over that.

Got into the Jeep. Almost no gas left, but I figure it’s enough to get me to the train station, so I’ll just get some petrol after work. I pull out of my driveway – I live on a major road that’s got two lanes on each side of a guardrail – and the guy that I pulled out “in front of” was doing about 70, instead of the “normal” 55 and never mind the speed limit of 45… So he almost hit me.

Then I had to get into the left lane, which was empty when I pulled out of the driveway, so I could make a U-turn – the guardrails, remember! – and head the other way. Three cars appeared from out of no where; they were going faster than me, but not enough to go by me, so I had to poke my way through them and almost got hit again. Came to a turn, down the road a bit, that leads to Starbucks – the car behind me was so far up my ass I was using his hood ornament as a nose ring and an almost third hit.

Got my latte – yay! – and made my way over to the train station. This was the least eventful part of the morning – Praise the Bean!

At the station, I see a parade of umbrellas walking over to the other side of the tracks. Not only does this tell me that there’s been a track change, but because there’s three times as many people as there should be, this also tells me that there was a disabled train screwing up the New Haven line of MetroNorth… today it was causing a half an hour backup, which also means a packed train for me. I pulled into my lot – ready to make the mad dash to the other side of the tracks – only to find that there’s no parking left, because the construction people have blocked off half the lot for no apparent reason. Drove over to the other lot, parked, and hopped onto a train, where I had to listen to two people shout/talk across the car to each other, because they couldn’t find seats next to each other.

All of this, just to get to a job that isn’t even paying me at the moment. I gotta have my fuckin’ head checked; I don’t think it’s getting any oxygen anymore.

And… I don’t remember if I turned my headlights off on the Jeep this morning. I think I’ll go home and watch Toonami all day.

[Oh, and if only to prove a point? This Rant failed to post the first time, crashing IE – thankfully I had a copy typed in Notepad otherwise I would have been officially Broken for the rest of the week!]
